Race

Ever feel like life is just a race to nowhere? People run to and fro everyday and like in the Little Prince, they have no real destination.

Sometimes you feel as though you're failing everything and though it's possible to salvage, you can't be bothered. Yup, that's the drag of college. Halfway through you wonder what the hell is worth it to go on and do anything at all. Ridiculous.

College isn't forever, just tough through it, and your degree will help you... to live :O

Supposedly, yes. That's the only hope I'm sticking to. The finish line's nothing but a void...

Grr, I'm in kind of a paradoxical (leaking brake line) vehicle situation, so, thanks to Wawa not keeping DOT 3 fluid in stock, I couldn't get an cheap candiez >:(

Wait until you're my age to be so pessimistic lol, if you keep love and light in your heart, the void at the end of the finish line will be a really nice one...

That's a big if on that nice finish... It's rather comforting to be pessimistic, given faith loses to secular powers where I come from. Thus proving earthly groundings superior if not binding.

Yeah, that's the bitch about faith, believing in something that can't be proven by today's science. But when I think of all the cool things (like video codecs) that man has reverse engineered from God's work, and how limited our corporeal perspective on the Universe is... it all makes sense, even though the specifics are hidden.

Yes the big picture. But the further you go out and see how insignificant you really are, that's when you realize individual lives have no impact on an astronomical scale.

Never heard of the Butterfly Effect? IDK, I think a human life's got a lot of cosmological significance, much more than a few parsecs of empty space, or a few lifeless moons far, far away.

Ever see this one? http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/589217

Empty space can always become the newest expansion in our vast universe, perhaps one with unknown life. Our butterfly effect ends largely on earth, save the humongous chunks of trash we actually send beyond the asteroid belt. Of course, if an alien finds our satellites, that counts too.

Yeah you're right, and if Planet X is real (a rogue planet circling our sun), it shows that uncontrollable chaos is closer at hand. If you've got any more existential vapor lock, try looking up the 'spirit science' series that's here on NG (or YT)... this guy Jordan really spent a lot of time trying to make sense of new age literature, and has found some interesting similarities in some of the older works he's read.

Hmm, well that's comforting to know... Metaphysics is hardly my interest. I prefer normative ethics. Do you study philosophy?

Every old man studies philosophy lol, they just don't advertise it ;) I had a rather perilous and strange upbringing in the 1970's, not to mention the fact my parents were kinda old when they had me, which made socialization with my peers kinda awkward.

Huh, never knew there was such a critter: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Normative_ethics At the bottom of the page, they bring up how to foster morality in a populace... guess Obama and Trump didn't read that far.

Yes, implementation trips up a lot of 'em. It's all prescriptive of course, so ideals, ideals, ideals...
